Meet our winemakers...

Nadine Saxer

The 14-hectare winery, started by Nadine’s father, Jürg, in the 1990s, sits in the northeast corner of Switzerland, Winterthur, in the heart of the Zurich wine region. Under Nadine, with her husband, Stefan Gysel Saxer, and a small team, the family operation has built up an impressive collection of medals and awards from national and international competitions. The wines, which rely heavily on handwork in the vineyards, include popular classics Pinot Noir and Riesling Sylvaner. They have gained a reputation as modern wines, refreshing, clean and precise.

the grapes

Virtually all grapes are grown along the Limmat, Aare and Rhine rivers, which are home to world-class Pinot Noir wines, or on the banks of lakes Constance, Zurich, Thun and Lucerne. Pinot Noir accounts for 60% of all grapes grown in the region. Unlike the French-speaking cantons, the eponymous white grown here has been Müller-Thurgau, also known as Riesling-Sylvaner, although this is giving way to other whites, notably Chardonnay.

From: Nadine

“In our family business, in a prime location in the Winterthur wine region, we cultivate our wines in a way that is close to nature. We take the laws of nature into account and use the available resources carefully. Excellent wines are created with a lot of manual work and passion.

Our winery has been a family business since it was founded by my father Jürg Saxer in the 1990s. Today I run the winery together with my husband, Stefan Gysel Saxer, and a team of expert employees.

In addition to the quality of the wines, catchy names such as “Nobler Weisser”, “Nobler Blauer” or “Der besonderen” also contribute to the success of our estate. We are proud that our wines regularly win awards.”
